A technical failure in the 400KV transmission line powering Lonikand and Chakan sub-stations resulted in the power outage across some parts of Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Chakan MIDC, Lonikand, and Wagholi areas on Wednesday morning.
The power outage affected over 20 lakh residential, commercial and industrial consumers.
The tripping according to the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL), could have been the result of extreme fog and dew.
The engineers from MSETCL were patrolling the power lines to resolve the issue.
According to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) officials, the alternate power supply was being arranged through a back feeder and priority was given to the emergency services such as medical and water supply across the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
