According to market research and analysis, based on the challenges and requirements of high-voltage cables for electric vehicle applications, it is necessary to establish new cable standards to meet the needs of suppliers, wiring harness factories, and OEMs.

It can be seen that ISO 6722 is based on the common 60V cable standard and modified to meet the needs of 600V cables. The special design required for high-voltage cables is often not considered as most of its requirements are still very general. ISO* has undergone similar revisions.

Among them, the following experimental result cases show that the scope of the developed standards has been certified: SAE adapted the current high-voltage (rated 600V) specification SAE J1654 to high-voltage cables and covers rated voltages from 600 to 1000 V. A newly created, yet-to-be-published standard, SAE J2840, will define shielded cables.

LV is a common purchasing specification for the five major German automobile companies. At present, the electric vehicle high-voltage cable standard LV 216 with a rated voltage of 600V has been launched. It covers single-core and multi-core shielded cables.
